The first four days of the tour effectively provided a circuit of the Park Naturel Regional du Vercors, heading south from Grenoble, then following clockwise back to Grenoble.

The Vercors is a high, rugged limestone plateau rich in beech and resinous trees. Fast-flowing mountain streams flow down steep gorges with many caves and deep chasms often over 400m deep with roads cut into the cliffs.
The CTC tour spent four days in the Vercors – details can be accessed by clicking on each day.
